Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the “QR” mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. By installing or using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information from you directly. The App does not require an account, sign-in, or any personally identifiable information to function.
The App processes the following on-device only:
- Camera input — used solely to scan QR codes and barcodes in real time. Camera frames are processed locally on your device and are not stored, uploaded, or transmitted.
- Scan history — codes you scan or generate are saved locally on your device (in app storage). They never leave your device unless you explicitly share them.
- App preferences / settings — saved locally on your device.
2. Permissions Used
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
CAMERA | Required to scan QR codes and barcodes. |
VIBRATE | Provides haptic feedback on a successful scan. |
INTERNET | Required to load advertisements and to open links you choose to open from a scanned code. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Used to check connectivity before serving ads. |
The App does not request location, contacts, microphone, storage of personal media, or any other sensitive permission.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. To serve and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and process limited data, which may include:
- A non-permanent advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
- IP address and approximate (coarse) location derived from it
- Device information (model, OS version, language)
- Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks)
This data is collected directly by Google and is governed by Google’s own policies:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from partner sites/apps
- AdMob & AdSense data handling
You can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Where required by law (e.g. EEA, UK), the App requests your consent for personalized ads via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before such ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from within the App’s settings.
4. Links and Shared Content
When you scan a QR code that contains a URL, phone number, email, or other action, the App only opens that content in the appropriate handler (browser, dialer, email client, etc.) after you tap to open it. The App is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or security of third-party websites or services you choose to open.
When other apps share text with the App (Android “Share to QR”), that text is processed locally to generate a QR code and is not transmitted by us.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertising is configured to comply with Google Families / “Tag for child-directed treatment” requirements where applicable.
6. Data Retention
All data created by your use of the App (scan history, generated codes, settings) is stored only on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the items inside the App, clearing app storage from Android Settings, or uninstalling the App.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. The only third party that processes data in connection with the App is Google AdMob, as described in Section 3.
8. Security
Because no personal data is collected by us or transmitted to our servers, there is no server-side data to breach. Data on your device is protected by Android’s standard application sandboxing.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to withdraw consent for personalized ads. Since we do not collect personal data ourselves, most requests should be directed to Google for ad-related data. For anything related to the App itself, contact us at the email below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
